In the Gaurdians article titled 50 People Who Could Save The Planet, it spoke about the worlds upmost visionaries in the terms of environmental awareness. The list included people such as the British government's scientific adviser on climate change, Bob Watson, Indian physicist and ecologist Vandana Shiva, Kenyan biologist and Nobel prize-winner Wangari Maathai, and American teenage heartthrob Leonardo Dicaprio. When looking at this list something just does not seem right. We have Nobel prize winners, physicist, scientific advisor's and a movie star? Now i know that Leonardo has done some deal of work with the environment, after all the cruise ship he was aboard was sunk by a glacier, but does this really qualify him to be on the top 50 people who could save the earth? I will have to disagree. I feel that the people who are going to be the ones to save the earth are going to be the ones who are knowledgeable in the field of environmental science and who have been educated in the field of saving the planet. On the other hand maybe Leo is just what we need to influence the movie going population that it is cool to go green. With his superstar status and his huge following Leo might just be our saving grace.
